Chapter 4 Summary
A brief summary of Chapter 4 is the information resources that are out on the web for us to view. Applying for a job for the most part is all done online. Some jobs may have you go in person to fill out an application to keep a physical copy. I have used Indeed before. I used to think it was cool. You can filter what job you’re looking for. Along with their pay, part-time or full-time, and location. As well as time of day, what day, and specific qualifications needed. However, I noticed when applying that I wasn’t getting ANY callbacks. I found that so weird because I applied to many jobs and haven’t heard anything back. I did some research and had found out that they were just allegedly using and selling our data. So I steered clear of that, it's better to use it as a job board, but if you want to apply go to the company’s website. The amount of resources we have on the web is insane. However, most English majors will tell you not to use google. The reason being is that google tracks and personalizes what you do. There’s also the fact that google has a filtered search. So not everything can be done online given how advanced we are. Libraries, books, physical copies are all still so important today. So do yourself a favor don’t illegally acquire a pdf for your CIS class, buy the book!
