Chapter 3 Summary

To summarize, Chapter 3 gives us insight on searching the web. For example how to use the web, also showing us how it works. How meta tags are used to direct us to specific files. One thing that piqued my interest was the logical operators. Last semester I remember doing something fairly the same. They were p and q statements. Where p or q could be true or false. This chapter shows me that true and false statements are everywhere. This chapter also teaches me about website ownership. When I think about it, I think about you telling us that you made a website for your kids. When I viewed your website it read “ I love my Job”. I didn’t know that adding punctuation could change the search engine results. I understand that the web picks up keywords or phrases to determine our search. However I didn’t know if specific characters influence the search too. I viewed the example given in the book and was astonished. Essentially the topics are related, but part of me believes its due to how the internet is so up to date. It keeps every search related or intertwined. If we were to do this test on two separate computers would the search yield the same results?
