Chapter 1 Summary
I have read chapter 1 and would like to say so far the chapter has been spectacular. I use a computer daily and reading some of the material in the book refreshes my memory. It also gives me a look on how different some of the browsers back then compare to the modern ones of today. Chapter one gives an overview of how to use a browser. However it also explains some of the niche details included in a browser. I use a computer daily yet I didn’t know what a cookie was or what HTML stood for. For the most part cookies weren’t that big of a thing in my opinion until like 2015. After that it felt like visiting every website felt exhausting because of what they were asking for. Websites ask if you accept all their cookies or do you decline them. A cookie is a small text file that a web server saves on the hard drive of the computer running the web browser software. Of course the chapter dives more into first party and third party cookies. But to think Ive been using a computer everyday without knowing something simple? I’ve never played around with a web browser before but after reading some of the material. I decided why not customize the browser to my liking. Now I get the ads I want along with a nice sleek darkened shade of purple for the theme of my browser.
